Wordless Wednesday – Mugu Rock
Mugu Rock is a landmark in Ventura County easily seen from the ocean, air, and highway. It is used very often as a background in commercials and movies.

The NEW definition of “FixER”
We have been showing a lot of houses lately throughout Ventura County that could easily be in the category of “Fixer.” We have found that what one person calls a “Fixer” is different than what the next person would call a “Fixer.” It seems that most of our current buyers classify a “Fixer” as a [...]

Camarillo Economic Growth
While most Ventura County cities are cutting budgets, Camarillo officials say their city has experienced “a moderate amount of growth.” Last week the Camarillo City Council approved a $142.3 million mid-year budget which is an increase from the previous year.
According to Ronnie J. Campbell, Camarillo’s finance director, less than 10 percent of the city revenue [...]

“We’re rolling back prices to…..”
Did you ever see that WalMart commercial that says “we are rolling back prices?” That is exactly how I feel when I look at today’s real estate prices. So this got me thinking – dangerous. When was the last time that Ventura County home prices were at the approximate same level as today? I started searching other [...]

Foreclosures in Camarillo and Conejo Valley, CA
Here’s a quick update of REO properties currently listed for sales in Camarillo and the Conejo Valley (Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Westlake, Agoura, Oak Park). Remember a foreclosed property is now owned by the bank. The term ‘foreclosure’ is used interchangeably with REO (which means real estate owned – by the bank) and just plain ‘bank [...]

Ventura County – The Calm before the Storm
Greg, my partner, is a ‘weather’ person. He loves to watch the weather even though I say we don’t have ‘real weather’ here — we have climate. I shot this picture of the beautiful Pacific (and Greg) along the PCH just south of Mugu Rock. The next day Ventura County was blessed with much-needed rain.
Another [...]

Rear View Mirror?
Is it us or is it the market? We have reported in the past that we (and others) will know that the real estate market has turned the corner after the fact. We refer to that as looking in the ‘rear view mirror.’ We are starting to believe, hope, think this might be happening. Of course we [...]

What would Frazier say?
One of our favorite television shows is Frazier. So much so that we went twice to see the show taped. Frazier plays a radio psychologist who gives out advice but is constantly in some type of personal dilemma. We would like to ask Frazier a question about Ventura County home buyers. We think the phone call would [...]

Looking forward – 2009 Ventura County real estate
It is already one month into the new year of 2009. We have been reading, thinking, analyzing and talking about what this new year will bring. We are very upbeat about the Ventura County real estate market for 2009 and our real estate business. Although sales weren’t great for 2008, we have successfully ridden out [...]
