9. Stop by the visitor’s center at the Channel Island National Park. The Channel Islands are know as the “North American Galapagos” because they are home to over 150 unique species.
10. See a California mission right here in Ventura County. San Buenaventura Mission is located at 211 East Main Street in Ventura.

Casa Pacifica Wine & Food Festival is an annual summer event in Camarillo at the California State University Channel Islands. The proceeds benefits the children and families of Casa Pacifica, a crisis-care and residential treatment facility and community-based program throughout Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. This festival has been voted Ventura County’s best cultural event. There’s 75 restaurants and caterers, 150 wineries, 25 micro-breweries, silent and live auctions plus continuous entertainment.

Ventura County is home to two Navy Bases — Port Hueneme and Point Mugu. Each spring we are treated to Seabee Days. Seabee Days will also feature a Classic Car Show, Poker Run, Motorcycle Show and Karaoke Competition.There will also be several athletic events, including boxing, softball and basketball tournaments, and an arm wrestling competition.
Visitors can also enjoy a carnival, arts and crafts booths and a variety of great food.

This is a great list! Another great thing we love doing is whale watching, which departs from near the visitor’s center at the Channel Island NP!
