Things to do
We found 10 great things to do this summer in Ventura County and they are free –
1. Go to the beach. Ventura County has a bounty of beaches. Find one here.
2. Go for a hike. Streams, waterfalls and wildlife await you.
3. Ventura County has Farmers’ Markets throughout the week on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Go see what is grown in our great county.
4. Several cities in Ventura County have concerts in the park. The Ventura County Star newspaper reported the concert listings for 2008. Get your picnic basket ready.
5. PYO or pick your own at Underwood’s Family Farm. Pick blueberries. Visit animals. Fresh and local….
6. Visit Gardens of the World. Yes, right here in Ventura County. Thank you Hogan Family.
7. Check out the Museum of Ventura County. We have to admit, we have not been here - yet.
8. Have you been to the newest library in Ventura County? It is a prize!
9. Stop by the visitor’s center at the Channel Island National Park. The Channel Islands are know as the “North American Galapagos” because they are home to over 150 unique species.
10. See a California mission right here in Ventura County. San Buenaventura Mission is located at 211 East Main Street in Ventura.

This is a great list! Another great thing we love doing is whale watching, which departs from near the visitor’s center at the Channel Island NP!
