Festivals & Fun in Ventura County

We found 10 great things to do this summer in Ventura County and they are free –

1.  Go to the beach.  Ventura County has a bounty of beaches.  Find one here.

2.  Go for a hike.   Streams, waterfalls and wildlife await you.

3.  Ventura County has  Farmers’ Markets throughout the week on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.  Go see what is grown in Ventura county.

4.  Several cities in Ventura County have concerts in the park.   Get your picnic basket ready.

5.  PYO or pick your own at Underwood’s Family Farm.  Pick blueberries.  Visit animals.  Fresh and local….

6.  Visit Gardens of the World.   Yes, right here in Ventura County.  Thank you Hogan Family.

7.  Check out the Museum of Ventura County.  We have to admit,  we have not been here – yet.

8.  Have you been to the newest library in Ventura County?  It is a prize!

9.  Stop by the visitor’s center at the Channel Island National Park.  The Channel Islands are know as the “North American Galapagos” because they are home to over 150 unique species.

10.  See a California mission right here in Ventura County.  San Buenaventura Mission is located at 211 East Main Street in Ventura.

  • Strawberry Festival takes place the third weekend in May at College Park in Oxnard.  Here’s a YouTube which will give you a glimpse of the fun.  Need more info?  Check out their website.

  • Cajun, Creole Music Festival presented Memorial Day weekend in Simi Valley.  Food, entertainment, talent shows, food, dancing.  Check out the below video.  For more information, check out their website.

casa-pacifica-wine-food-festivalCasa Pacifica Wine & Food Festival is an annual summer event in Camarillo at the California State University Channel Islands.  The proceeds benefits the children and families of Casa Pacifica, a crisis-care and residential treatment facility and community-based program throughout Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.  This festival has been voted Ventura County’s best cultural event.  There’s 75 restaurants and caterers, 150 wineries, 25 micro-breweries, silent and live auctions plus continuous entertainment.

  • seabeesVentura County is home to two Navy Bases — Port Hueneme and Point Mugu.  Each spring we are treated to Seabee Days.  Seabee Days will also feature a Classic Car Show, Poker Run, Motorcycle Show and Karaoke Competition.There will also be several athletic events, including boxing, softball and basketball tournaments, and an arm wrestling competition.

    Visitors can also enjoy a carnival, arts and crafts booths and a variety of great food.

This is a great list! Another great thing we love doing is whale watching, which departs from near the visitor’s center at the Channel Island NP!
